Monique Langlands

A little about the artist, Monique Langlands

Monique Langlands is a digital artist and pattern designer, living amidst the quiet beauty of the Yarra Valley in Victoria, Australia. Surrounded by vineyards, rolling hills and dappled light that often inspires her work.

Her creative journey has its roots in a long career in fashion and textiles, where she honed a deep understanding of colour, pattern and the balance between aesthetic and market sensibilities. That background gives her an edge. Not just in crafting designs that delight the eye, but in creating patterns that integrate gracefully into real, lived interiors.

One of the pivotal moments in Monique’s evolution as a digital artist came when she discovered the expressive potential of painting on iPad. A path opened up for many by David Hockney, who helped show that digital tools are not a lesser medium, but a valid and vibrant extension of traditional art practice.

With this digital freedom, Monique began to translate her textile-sensibility into wallpaper-ready designs: from bold maximalist repeats to soft watercolour-like palettes; from abstract forms to nature-inspired motifs. Browsing through her portfolio on Spoonflower, one gets a sense of her versatility. A balance of whimsy and sophistication, of contemporary energy and timeless harmony.

What she loves most is seeing those designs come to life in people’s homes. Whether it’s a bedroom, dining room, nursery or workspace. There’s something deeply rewarding for her in transforming blank walls into immersive art.
